Costa Rica Things to See, Visit, Activities, Places to Stay

After your wedding day - things to think about...

Where do you go; where do you stay after your Wedding Day? You might stay at the resort, hotel, or vacation rental where you got married, but then, it's time to explore, either at your present location, or other incredible, tropical places. Below, are some suggestions that you might consider.

The Guanacaste Region

If you're looking for a relaxing, quiet time in one of the most unusual areas of the country, then the Blue River Resort Hot Springs Hotel and Spa is one of the most choice. Have you ever in you life seen a blue river, not from the sky, but from the color of the water, itself? That is what you'll experience at this eco-resort, where you can be all laid back as you like, or partake in any of their adventure tours in the surrounding area.

The Nicoya Peninsula Region

If you're looking for a great place to surf, then the Mal Pais / Santa Maria / Playa Hermosa region is for you. Largely undiscovered until 10 years ago, it is now not only the place for surfing aficiandos, but the jet set, Hollywood stars as well, with all types of vacatin rentals right on the beach, from budget to super-estate villas to choose from. A half hour drive from Mal Pais is the beach resort of Tango Mar, in which is located one of the best vacation rentals in Costa Rica, right on the beach, the Casa Oceano beachfront villa. See video below:

The Central Pacific Region

On the Central, Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, you'll find Manuel Antonio and Jaco, two very popular and tourist destinations, and also Hermosa Beach, one of the fastest surf breaks in the world. There is an activity for every type of interest, and a hotel or luxury vaation rental villa for every taste in this upscale area, especially Manuel Antonio.

A short drive down the coast after leaving Manuel Antonio will take you to a private nature reserve and ecolodge hotel - The La Palapa Resort where you can truly relax away from the tourist crowds. At La Palapa Resort, you can stay in a private bungalow, surrounded by tropical flowers and gardens, and the 200 acres of the private park. A great place for a wedding and / or honeymoon.

In the South Pacific Coast area, if you like SCUBA diving and an eco-hotel atmosphere, then make reservations at the Pirate Cove SCUBA Resort in Drake Bay. Nearby, but inland about a 45 minute drive from Playa Dominical, located near the Chirripó National Park, is the incredible honeymoon resort hotel and gourmet restaurant, Monte Azul. Located within a 100 acre private reserve, honeymoon couples will find this boutique hotel offers secluded luxury accommodations.

The Caribbean Region

One of the most interesting areas in the Caribben Region is the Rastafarian town of Puerto Viejo, which has one of the best surf breaks on the Caribbean side. A short distance from Puerto Viejo is the smaller town of Cahuita, home to the Cahuita National Park on the beach. One of Tripadvisor's most recommended honeymoon hotel in the Caribbean is Coral Hill Bungalows.

Coral Hill Bungalows is also a member of the Adventure Hotels of Costa Rica - a non-profit association of, small boutique hotels all around the country. By using the Adventure Hotels site, you can get a 10% discount on your booking, too!

The Central Valley Mountains Region

Although many people associate a wedding and honeymoon in Costa Rica as being something at the beach, the Finca Rosa Blanca small boutique resort hotel in the central valley is a favorite among honeymooners looking for a private escape within an ecological and sustainable setting of an organic coffee farm. Since they are close to the International Aiport in San Jose, plan to spend at least a few days there before departing Costa Rica if you do vacation mostly on the beach. The mild temperature of the central valley mountains is always like springtime, and you'll enjoy the change in climate and touring their coffee plantation.

Granada, Nicaragua

Yes, Granada, one of the most historic and romantic towns in Latin America. Many honeymoon couples hop over the border to stay in one of many colorful hotels in Granada, which are near Lake Granada offering local, historic tours within the town, to the museum and churches, and to Juan del Sur on the Pacific Ocean.
